About

In January 2011, Colombia Journal stopped publication after eleven years of providing original articles and analysis about Colombia’s armed conflict and U.S. intervention in that South American nation. The website will remain online as a valuable resource for researchers and others interested in learning about Colombia and U.S. foreign policy. Colombia Journal’s archives consist of more than 300 articles and special reports written by editor Garry Leech and dozens of other contributors.

Mission of Colombia Journal:

The mission of Colombia Journal is to promote political, social and economic justice in Colombia by creating a greater awareness and understanding of U.S. foreign policy. To this end, Colombia Journal provides editorial analysis from a leftist perspective—anywhere from the center-left (i.e. social democratic) to the left (i.e. socialist)—in an effort to dispel the myth of media objectivity. Much of our analysis is based on extensive field research conducted in Colombia. We believe that easy and affordable access to information and analysis of U.S. foreign policy in Colombia, beyond the narrow views presented in the mainstream media, is essential if citizens are to effectively participate in a truly democratic process.
